Dear Friend,

I am pleased to report that we have 17 pieces of legislation that were heard in their respective committees and then were voted on by the full Assembly. These bills are now working their way through the Senate and soon to the Governor's desk. As I consider the bills that come before me, my staff keeps me up to date with the comments and concerns you send to my office. As before, my primary goals are to ensure that our voices are heard and that resources that had been absent from the district for many years, make their way back into our communities.

Estimados Amigos:

Sacramento News

Dear friends,

This last month has been filled with both highs and lows that have hit our community particularly hard but we keep moving forward. The tragedy that rocked San Bernardino and North Park Elementary School is once again a reminder of the pain we've all felt, stemming all the way back to December 2015. Just as we did then, we will remain San Bernardino Strong and rally together with our neighbors, co-workers, classmates, friends and certainly family. In response to what happened, I have introduced a new version of AB 1268 to address some of the issues surrounding domestic violence and to help educate our communities about it in a culturally competent manner.

Estimados amigos:

Dear Friends,

In our third month in Sacramento we keep fighting to bring something back to our District that has been missing for a while; representation and a voice in the legislature. In the past few weeks my staff and I have been advancing our legislative package that helps the people in our cities with what they need most. We’ve advanced bills out of committees to provide transparency to students and parents when a student is suspended (AB 667) and to protect people in our community that have been victims or witnesses of crimes from being threatened with their immigration status (AB 578). There’s much work left to do but as always, I’m fighting for us and for our community interests. Please remember that my offices in Sacramento and San Bernardino are always open to you and please know that my staff and I are here to listen, plan and act on what you need.  Please come in and tell us how we can improve and protect our district!

I’m pleased to have crafted a legislative package reflective of your concerns and our district’s needs. We’re addressing issues that will affect our communities specifically, the Inland Empire generally as well as the entire state. Highlighted below are just a few of the bills I hope to pass this session.

Dear Friends,

Just as I am so honored to be your voice in Sacramento, I am also honored to have begun the work that is greatly needed in order to restore our cities and people to safety and prosperity. As my first act of office, I introduced AB 44 which seeks to aid survivors of the terrorist attack in San Bernardino by removing roadblocks that keep workers who suffer job-related injuries from receiving recommended treatment.
